So, delving backs into Guild Wars 2 and living the MMOLife for the past couple of months, I believe I have had my fill of the world of Tyria. From diving back into dungeons, exploring the new lands that were added during my absence, tuning in for the unveiling of Heart of Thorns, and completing new world events, all of those things were fun and delightful. Unfortunately, it’s time to move on.
I would like to share some of my experience with a few guides that can hopefully help out any wanderer in Tyria. These include setups I use for each class when being a wastelander in the Silverwastes, covering ground skirmishes, fort defense, breaches, and the Vinewrath, a rich ore vein guide created by Jetti91 and posted on Reddit, a mapped out route for Rata Sum Transmutation Charge farming, and a small section called, “Sigils Made Cheap ‘N’ Easy.”
*** The Silverwastes Class Guide was separated into its own post due to the length. Thanks for understanding!
RICH ORE VEIN GATHERING
First off, let us iron out the kinks with a guide for locating, gathering, and farming Rich Iron Ore Vein nodes. Credit goes to Jetti91 on Reddit for scouring the world of Tyria for each rich ore node and providing both image and video guides for the gatherer in all of us! Click HERE for his informative and helpful Reddit post. Many thanks, Jetti!
I took his guide on a spin for just the Iron ore since the rest are not worth or needed as much on the market or when crafting. With each character, I was able to obtain an average of 175 ores from the rich veins alone and between 200-215 for mining any regular iron nodes along the way. That is pretty darn good!
You can also receive a whole new set of ores to mine by entering a new IP of the same map, but since the Megaserver update, getting into a new map is kind of a hassle. An easy workaround is logging onto another character for a whole new set of nodes since all nodes are character-bound. If you do not have multiple characters, all is well, since guesting to another server will usually drop you into a different Megaserver.
To help ease the learning curve of getting used to mining specifically the iron nodes, I’ve taken the liberty of adding all the Waypoint codes you need to jump from node to node, West to East. Starting with Brisbain Wildlands and then onwards to Kessex Hills, Harathi Hinterlands, Gendarren Fields, Lornar’s Pass, Dredgehaunt Cliffs, Snowden Drifts, Diessa Plateau, Blazeridge Steppes, and ending in the Fields of Ruin.
To ensure you are not just flooding Guild, Map or the general Say Chat, create your own guild to represent, copy the chat codes below, and paste them into your chat box for quick referencing to reduce the time bringing up the World Map view and scouring for the next Waypoint.
SIGILS MADE CHEAP ‘N’ EASY
Now, for the time being, there are two particular superior sigils out there that are quite expensive due to their usefulness and high demand: Energy and Force. Sigil of Energy refills half of your endurance meter when swapping to another weapon set, attunement (Elementalists), or kit (Engineers) while Sigil of Force provides +5% damage.
So, instead of buying them straight out of the Trading Post (Guild Wars 2 version of an Auction House), you can cheaply craft specific weapons for the sigils, Courage and Rusttooth, provided you can successfully salvage the upgrade from them with a Black Lion Lion Kit, or you are willing to take a gamble with the other not-so-guaranteed salvage kits.
Do keep in mind that you will need 50 Skill Points for each Eldritch Scroll, so crafting multiple weapons for either personal use or gain will require a hefty dose of skill point (scroll) consumption. One thing to note is that there is a bit of coin to be made if you are crafting to sell the sigil or the weapon itself. Just don’t be surprised if the market resides for a bit due to sudden supply over demand. You have been warned!
RATA SUM ROUTE FOR TRANSMUTATION FARMING
Fashion is one of the major key components of any game that allows you to customize your look, either though preset outfits, or mixing and matching various parts from various sets of clothing and armors. Because Guild Wars 2 also feature stats on most of their items, retaining the look you want with the stats you want can be a slight hassle when you have run out or low on Transmutation charges.
Fear not! Below is a mapped route of the Asura city of Rata Sum, the easiest and arguably fastest map to complete for a single Transmutation Charge. I have laid out the basic route, as well as a few tips on some to help you get a Transmutation Charge in 13 minutes or less, from Character Creation to accepting your reward for the completion of Rata Sum.
CHARACTER CREATION AND THE TUTORIAL
For a quick and easy farm, follow these simple steps for a tutorial that should last about 3 minutes or so tops.
- Select an Asura as your race.
- Select the Warrior profession.
- Ignore the other details as they will not matter.
- Run past all the NPCs and head straight for the boss fight versus Mark Golem I.
- Kill the Mark Golem I.
- Skip the cutscene, turn around, and head through the portal that leads to Rata Sum.
- Start map completion of Rata Sum.
For the top level of Rata Sum (not counting the Council area), the most natural flow is discovering Points of Interests, Waypoints, and viewing Vistas in a clockwise manner. There is no definitive starting point since you will be starting on the Asura Gates on the Eastern side when creating an Asura, or coming in from the North end through the portal connecting to Lion’s Arch if you are completing it with a character that does not already have Rata Sum discovered.
The only advice to be given in the top floor is to save the Council level in the center for the end of the run and a photo guide (because we all love pictures) on how to tackle Antidawn Anchorage, as there can be some running involved and a bit of confusion at first glance.
Once the top level has been completed you can progress down towards the middle level. Grab the Accountancy Waypoint [Green Arrows] in the center of the floor immediately before progressing to either of the three Union stations spread about, teleporting back to the center upon completing each Union section. Once complete, head east from Accountancy Waypoint and follow the ramp down towards the bottom level, indicated by the [Yellow Arrows] and [Red Arrows] marked on the image.
Once you have reached the ramp leading down to the bottom level of Rata Sum [Green Arrows], continue completing the floor in a counter-clockwise route so you can end on the Vista [Red Arrows] located near the center of the floor level. Ending on the vista ensures there is no back tracking since you will be forced Waypoint back in order to continue the route.
Once the bottom section is complete, use the Metrical Waypoint located on the top level and finish off Rata Sum by discovering the final Point of Interest inside the Council level instance, located at the center. Once the POI has been grabbed, exit the Council instance, open up your chest, and claim your prize!
Stay tuned for the second and final part of “Life In The Silverwastes, Iron Ore, and More” where we will focus on tactics, builds, and going through each class one-by-one against Breach bosses, Vinewrath champions, and well, more!
