It is a late announcement but Valkyria Chronicles recently released for PC on November 11. Before, Valkyria Chronicles was a PlayStation 3 exclusive for years, and when it finally made its way to PC, it was released at a very generous $20 on Steam.
This game brings back so many memories, I recall watching the trailer and being captivated by the art style, then heading to the nearest GameStop once a release date was confirmed and pre-ordering the game in full. The rest is in the history books of Gallia.
Make no mistake, the porting from PS3 to PC was smooth and crisp. Playing Valkyria Chronicles at 60 FPS is definitely a boon to the experience, and tactically fighting our way through the war in Europa for a second time was just as enjoyable as the first. Valkyria Chronicles was definitely a Day-1 purchase for me.
The blend of real-time control of each of your troops to control freely in the battlefield, the turn-based gameplay between you and your enemy to effectively use a limited amount of actions per turn, and the universe was absolutely adoring. Strong narrative, compelling events that drive the plot forward, and characters that have chemistry and develop as the story unfolds – Valkyria Chronicles was an instant classic and one of my all time favorites.
I can not recommend Valkyria Chronicles enough, especially for people that love strategy RPG games such as XCOM. One could say that it is nostalgia, but Valkyria Chronicles has aged extremely well, still feeling fresh while providing fine-tuned mechanics. Due to this love and excellence, Twitch Fan admirably rewards Valkyria Chronicles a Twitch Fan Seal of Approval. Squad 7, move out!
