The Evil Within is out and from the word caught in the wind is telling me, it’s doing fairly well. Right down to the meat ‘n’ bones, the score predicted for The Evil Within was a strong 83% and so far, The Herd over here are beginning to look like gaming soothsayers! Albeit, creepy gaming soothsayers.
Currently, GameRankings aggregate scores for The Evil Within garnered an average of 82% (rounded down) with the XBONE version at 83.78% and the PS4 version at 81%. On the other side of town, MetaCritic aggregate critic scores are at an 80% combined average with 76% for the PS4 and 84% on the XBONE. Nicely done, Tango Gameworks!
Just remember that scores are likely to change, for better or worse, since there are critics out there that have yet to chime in with their scores. Also, there’s not a lot of love for the PC version of The Evil Within. Reports are pouring in that the PC version is highly bugged and some consumers are claiming it is broken and unplayable. Hopefully, the PC version will be patched up soon.
Also, we are not touching up on last-generation aggregate scores. I know, I know. There are plenty of us out there that still buy games for our PS3s and 360s (me being one of them). I’m all in favor of games being developed for last-gen consoles, but sooner or later, things have to move on.
